New Opportunity for People to Serve.
Thanks to all of you, our Meal Ministry event on May 23rd was a great success. Look for next event info in the forthcoming Notes & News for this weekend.
Lessons I learned include these 2 main points: Arrive at 5:45 to setup and serve meal. Adjust ingredient quantities slightly. Maybe more than slightly! Better too much than not enough, I always say. Better early than late, as well.
I was told today that Pastor Jim Hill was very impressed with how you engaged the community as people arrived. FoG truly has a "Family" culture, and we fit right in.
Our next 2 events are Tuesday June 18 and Tuesday July 9.
Tasks for Our Shepherd volunteers are:
Cooking meats, prep salad stuff at OS: 2:30pm
Load food, leave OS: 4:45pm
Arrive, unload, setup at FoG: 5:45pm
Serve meal: 6:15pm
Cleanup and depart 7:30ish
Talk and socialize with the community families at FoG: arrival to departure
Barb and I will have pasta cooked and cooled when volunteers arrive at OS. I know Dallmanns and Smiths will not be present. Please let me know either way if you are able to join, and for which of the tasks.
Menu for Tuesday, June 18: Burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, Greek dressing pasta salad, fruit, brownies, milk, juice, tea.
