Jesus is our High Priest

Pastor Evan Gaertner | March 17, 2024

"Jesus is Our High Priest" Hebrews 5:1-10 Preacher: Rev. Dr. Evan Gaertner Inside the framework of the Old Testament, the high priest offered sacrifices. Leviticus and Deuteronomy are books in the Bible filled with passages that describe the importance of the priesthood. The high priest represented the people to God, particularly through offerings and sacrifices for sin. The high priest also offered pastoral ministry as one sympathetic to the weaknesses of the people he served. Every function of the Old Testament priesthood is applied to Jesus, who acts as our high priest. Unlike Levitical priests, who continually offered sacrifices, Jesus offered His sacrifice once, securing redemption for all who come to God through Him. In Christ, we find the boldness to go to the throne of grace, obtain mercy, and find grace to help in times of need.
